Coming Home - Byron Bay Yoga Retreat

  • Byron Bay, NSW Australia (map)

Practice Yoga. Go Inwards. Come Home.

Join Janet in Australian Paradise for a retreat to bring you home. Rediscover yourself through the transformational practices, the ancient wisdom of yoga, and being immersed in nature. This sacred oasis and shared yoga experience will make you feel a million miles away from the hustle of daily life, giving you the opportunity to slow down, go inwards and reconnect. It’s going to be the ultimate luxury escape with five-star accommodation, profound yoga practices, an abundance of delicious food, and a special kind of magic that only happens on a retreat.

Be Immersed

There’s a tangible healing energy that emanates from this land.

SOMA retreat is the intersection of consciousness, creativity and the art of living. We want people to feel at home, share communal meals on the seven-metre-long dining table, share stories around the fire pit, receive teaching in the exceptional geodesic dome, swim in the freshwater infinity pool and walk through the lush bamboo and lychee forests on the property. While the accommodation is modern and beautiful, Soma’s grounds are unquestionably their pride and joy. In addition to the stunning accommodation, you will have full access to the sauna and cold therapy, providing a true spa experience. We want you to leave your worries on the doorstep and step into a space where you will feel totally taken care of.

The Yoga Dome

Practice fully immersed in nature.

Our daily practices will be held in the exceptional geodesic dome, purposefully built to receive the teachings of yoga. As you practice, you will be held by the surrounding lush, mystical bamboo and rainforest with thousands of botanical species and wildlife. A true immersion in nature to support you in reconnecting to yourself. You will feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Yoga Styles

Dynamic Flow

A strong, alignment-based vinyasa practice. Through intelligent sequencing, informed alignment, and yogic wisdom, students are encouraged to slow down and experience every moment of their lives. Our morning practices will be challenging and awakening, yet accessible for all levels.

Yin Yoga

Long, slow, and deep is one way to describe yin yoga. Postures are low to the ground and are held for longer periods of time to bring stillness and restoration to the body and mind. It’s a true gift and necessity to be able to spend your time practicing this way.

Yoga Nidra

During retreat we will have one evening yoga nidra experience in the geodesic dome, sending the body into deep meditative rest. This restorative practice is an accessible way to meditate and is deeply healing. You will feel totally zen after this effortless relaxation of the body.

Food is Life.

It’s that which makes us feel nurtured, alive and fulfilled.

We can’t wait to take care of you through food. We’ve partnered with Alex, the founder of Rustic Rishi, to curate a conscious food journey that will have you feeling nurtured, energised, and rejuvenated. Alex is a food artist, surfer, and lover of spices here to nourish and inspire you. His menus are designed around simple and holistic principles, using seasonal, organic farm-to-table produce. Eating should be a joyous part of life and we can’t wait to share communal meals bursting with flavour, colour, and creativity. On retreat, you can expect a big brunch after our long morning practices, a light afternoon bite and an abundant dinner to satisfy all the senses. Food is life!

Your Teacher & Host

Janet is a teacher, retreat facilitator and mama.

Janet is a dedicated student and teacher and loves to bring joy to her students through yoga. She aims to lead classes that are inclusive, inventive and inspiring. You can expect alignment-based flows and nourishing yin practices infused with relatable wisdom from her experience as a yogi, teacher and now mama. Her hope is for you to love yourself where you are at and empower you to make the changes you want to live your most aligned and vibrant life.

When she’s not practicing or teaching, you can find her on the streets of Bondi with her labrador Tony and daughter Gigi. She is passionate about travelling, exploring the world and believes life is all about balance. She can’t wait to retreat with you!

Zen Thai Massage with Rebecca Ratcliff

Relax. Be Held. Heal.

If you haven’t met Bec, she is all sunshine. Just being in her presence will have you feeling lighter and more joyful. We are so excited that she will be sharing Zen Thai massage therapy as an optional add-on for this retreat. Zen Thai massage is a hands-on movement-based therapy incorporating stretching, pulsing, rocking and stillness. It’s Yoga meets Thai Massage and we couldn’t recommend it more. With her background in movement, yoga and knowledge of elemental theory, Bec provides healing hands-on love to bring the body back into balance, leaving you feeling aligned and refreshed. Zen Thai has been a highlight of our past retreats and we couldn’t recommend this more. Please add your optional massage at the time of booking.
