Your Student Journey
Ground
Your teaching journey has already begun. You have arrived with your own lifetime of experience and that will launch you into this course. Prior to our time together, we will give you 20 x 1hr pre-recorded practices and reading materials to prepare and inspire you in embarking on this incredible experience. The most important thing at this stage is to ground yourself in the practice.
Connect
The beginning of our time together will be anchored in connection. Our first weekend will be a deep immersion into yourself, each other, and the roots of yoga. There will be time for practice, inquiry, reflection, sharing, and space to absorb it all. Through yoga philosophy, history and introduction to teaching methodology, we will plant the seeds of inspiration for you to cultivate a lifelong relationship with yourself, your practice, and the world around you.
Discover
There are endless paths of yoga and we will introduce you to many aspects of the practice during our discovery phase. Through progressive practices, asana labs, and anatomy modules, you will slowly unravel a deeper understanding of your own unique body. You will begin to find your voice, learn the power of touch, dissect sequences and explore a variety of yogic texts. An important part of our training is introducing you to different yoga lineages, among many other learning experiences to spark your curiosity.
Practice
Practice makes practice and it is the foundation of this training and being a teacher. During this phase, you’ll truly connect to what it means to be a student. While we will start practice teaching from day one of training, this is where you will spend significant time teaching your peers, friends, and family. It will be insightful, repetitive and sometimes messy, but it’s all a part of the process. You will get comfortable with hands-on assisting, play with designing your own sequences, and start to create unique themes for your classes, inspired by your own self-discovery and insights.
Refine
Through practice and repetition, clarity will begin to surface. We’ll go a little deeper to start to fill in the blanks. Self-assessment, peer to peer feedback and reflection will allow you to refine your teaching. Expect to adventure into the subtle practices of meditation, pranayama, mantra and yoga energetics. We know that yoga has a special kind of magic and we will experience the power of the mind-body connection first hand. This will bring you deep into both your own practice and your teaching and inspire your continued studentship.
Integrate
Where everything comes together. In the beginning it’s just for a few moments, but soon there will be a sense of sustained connection on and off the mat. During our last couple weeks of training, you will prepare a class theme and dharma talk combined with a meaningful sequence. You will record this class along with a curated playlist, all unique to you. Your teaching confidence will swell and you will feel inspired to share everything you are learning. Integration is the state of presence and alignment, and you will notice the practice oozing into all aspects of life.
Teach
Step into the role of the teacher. Our final weekend will include a final theory exam, practical teaching assessment and teaching a class to your community. Our closing practice together and a special graduation celebration is really just the beginning. As our in person training comes to a close, you will begin to seamlessly share your experience and practices with your friends, family, and community. You are now a teacher and forever a student.
Personalised Yoga Education
We know yoga is personal so we limit our trainings to 12 students.
You will feel mentored before, during, and after the program and develop meaningful, life-long relationships with our teachers. With a small teacher to student ratio, we are able to give each student more time, attention and feedback so can get the most out of your training experience. We see, hear and value each student.
